Where can I purchase fake or real vines?

I am designing a set for the play 'Wiley and the Harry Man' and find myself in need of realistic looking vines. Carolina Jasmine, Virginia Creeper, Catbriar, etc. I'm wondering where I can purchase fresh vines or very good fake vines. Thank you.



Also, does anyone know where I could purchase the trunk of a cypress tree?

Good lord dude! Don't spend money...make it!! For the vines do paper mac-he and paint it...newspaper and water and glue. If you really want to spend the dough try a wholesale flower shop or a craft store. Buy the fake...real is a waste of money, but so are the fake when you can make it.



As far as making the trunk of a tree....get a piece of plywood cut out a base....use 1x 2's as spacers and cut out another smaller piece of the plywood for the top. Get muslin and cover the entire trunk...stretch the muslin over it and staple it to the sides of the base. Cut off the extra muslin at the bottom. Treat it with a mixture of water and cornstarch in a spray bottle and then get to painting. If you want it textured you could also try using spray insullation foam and or gluing the left over muslin to parts of the trunk...of course painting the texture is a whole lot easier. It's on stage...it just has to look real...it doesn't have to actually be real.



Whole lot cheaper. Part of being a good designer is being creative and thrifty. You will save a lot of money that way.
