Is the age difference ok?

im 14 and there a guy whos 18 and my parents dont want me to date him. hes really sweet and isnt like a creeper or anything, but i was just wonderin what u guys thought.

Is the age difference ok?

Reply:sweetie i understand what ur parents r saying, i was 15 when i met my fella and he was 5 years older, were still together and married now, so just stick at it. it took my parents a long time to accept it, but if u think its right u just gotta prove them wrong! introduce him to ur parents, let them get to know him. theyll respect ur decisions and trust u loads more. just dont take advantage of ur 'rents.
Reply:You are probably not going to want to hear this but there is only one thing an18 year old would want from a 14 year old. You might not realize it now, but it's true. I was in a similar situation 20+ years ago and belive me it hurt to finally figure it out. Stick with guys closer to your own age. At least you have more things in common, more things to talk about.

Reply:He can end up in jail for dating you. It's very illegal. But if you care so little for him that it doesn't matter if he goes to jail, sure, go for it. The worst that can happen is that you'll get pregnant and he'll forget you while he's in jail. Then you'll be stuck at home with a baby and no time for fun and dating. You're still a kid...enjoy your childhood while you have it. You're way too young to be dating an 18 year old guy.
Reply:It depends on what you think, but then again your parents know best. I, personally, wouldn't have gone for it. The only way that this is ilegal is if you and your 18 year old "friend" are having sexual contact. If not, its legal. But I still wouldn't have accepted the idea of being with him. Besides, even if you don't know it, he could be a guy who is just looking for sex. Just be careful, there are a lot of creeps out there. Good Luck!

You're only fourteen. You're starting high school. He's either in college or prepping to go to one. Plus, an eighteen year old guy is going to be thinking seriously of a physical relationship, and no fourteen year old is ready for that.

Reply:I think age difference only matters when you are still a minor (Under the age of 18.) and he's past that age. That's when I would start to worry. When you are over that age, you can pretty much give consent without him going to jail. I'd say find someone close to your age to be on the safe side.

These are problem you and him should not get into. 1) For any lasting relationship learn to be friends with the opposite sex first. To often we jump into intimate relationships, and when the passion, and dating excitement wear off, there is nothing left to keep the relationship together. 2) In this case 18 to 14 year old is a big leap in age, maybe not when it is a 23 and 19 year old but at that young of an age you still need to learn about relationships. and your beliefs will change as you mature(even if you don't believe it now), many times over. From your teens, till your early 20's to your mid 20's, well into your 30's. As you mature so will your beliefs about your mate and what you want.

Reply:i think its fine!! although i am only 15 myself, but age should not stand in the way of love! go and be with him,i made the same mistake of not being with the one i love cause he was older, and i have learned better now. and dont listen to people when the say "ilegal" just ignore them!!
