i know its an odd car to work on but i want to make my bucket car a creeper. if someone could post up different engines and prices of engines that can be dropped that would be cool. any other info i need that u know post it please
What engine can i drop into my 93 ford tempo?
keep the 4 cylinder in there. The way the price of gas has jumped, you dont need a bigger engine to eat the fuel. Stick with the 4cyl. besides, the front wheel drive axles will not be able to withstand higher torque and Horsepower of a larger engine. You will spend more than what the car is worth on it in repairs and modifications.
Now if you want a sleeper car to race, look for a Cobolt or a Cavalier with the Ecotech 4 cylinder engine. Then add a supercharger to it. Trust me , you will be turning times in the 13 second area at the track.
I know because ive done it already. Plain jane cavalier with a 5 speed manaual trans and hubcaps. I still get 25mpg!
Reply:With enough steel, welding equipment, and a cutting torch, you can put any engine on earth in it.
Reply:The tempo was made for two engines without any fabrication. The 2.3L 4 cylinder, and the 3.0L V-6. The 2.3L will run you about 700 dollars new and the V-6 will be between 900 and 1000 new. Ford used these engines in several of their vehicles (3.0 in Taurus, both in ranger, both in contour) and there should be plenty of these types of engines in junk yards.
