In a horror movie where there's a guy and girl and if one dies, it's always the guy. Aren't you sick of that?

One of the last horror movies I saw where it had just got me fuming after seeing this all the time was

1) "Jeeper's Creepers". A brother and sister evade this ugly-as@ winged creature, but what happens, one of them gets captured by it and dies, and guess which one got captured and killed by the creature? Yes, you guessed, the guy, AS USUAL.

2) The very last horror I saw all the way through before getting sick of them completely based on that "guy always dying and girl always living" principle, was 2004 "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". It would've absolutely loved it if one of those 3 guys lived while both girls(including Jessica Biel) died for a change.

3) And did you see "Freddy vs. Jason"? There were only two left and it was the guy and girl. What I hated about this was that the girl was like this powerful amazoness, I wanted the guy to kick butt.

4) And "I still know what you did last summer". As usual, the girls ALWAYS live, yet both guys died....

i'm sick of how stupid the characters in the horror movies always are
Reply:Yeah it's always the same crap and it's getting really old.
Reply:I haven't found a horror movie that actually scared me. I've been watching them since I was three and never was even remotely scared by the movie (with the exception of IT, that movie scared me because I had these clown paintings in my room which totally looked like they were watching me everywhere I went).

Another movie that goes with your theory is Dawn of the Dead, the chick lives on the ship (maybe not forever) and the guy sacrifices himself so the rest may live.

By the way though, the reason the chick lives in the Texas Chainsaw is because that is how it was in the original (slightly based on a true story too, but not as grusome as they made it out to seem).

There is also a lot of cliches in those kind of movies too, like the chick has to fall when being chased. The phones are always out. (or get no signal) The car will never start. The door is locked and for some reason you can't remember how to unlock it (or the keys are in some god awful place).

In my theory why the guy always dies is if the guy dies (in theory the stronger one) then that means none of us have a chance in the end.
Reply:Hello...they are trying to make a small appeal to straight women audiences the world around by making them the strong ones who survive. Otherwise they would be called snuff films and not horror movies. And a good horror reccommendation for you is Audition. You should be surprised and aptly disgusted. It's a great movie!

and to elaineg...the characters have to be stupid so that we are cheering for their deaths

oh and what about wrong turn...i think a dude lives in that one or maybe no one does...don't quite remember
Reply:I have seen them all and wondered about the same...
Reply:well with jeepers creepers, the monster-thing picks his victims by fear...the guy was more afraid and so thats why he was taken, the girl tried to save her remember? (she was braver)

but you can never get tired of girls winning cuz we're the best! :)
Reply:I am kina sick of that but i saw that happen in AVP too.
Reply:Yes...i believe in equal pay for equal death
Reply:I assume it's done that way because that type of movie usually draws in a more male audience. If they kill of the girl, there's no sex factor.

I'm ok with it because it means I have a better chance at survival.
Reply:dude paris hilton died in house of wax ...that was hilarious
