Why dont highschools have homosexual clubs anymore?

there is every other club you could think of, but not that one. I want a new way to meet homosexuals my age, or just in highschool..but it seems impossible.

%26amp; I dont want to chat someone up on the internet and it turn out they are like 45 and a creeper.

Myspace has been pretty helpful for me, you just have to be realyl careful about who you decide to meet offline.

Your question about the clubs in high schools...if your school doesnt have one, why dont you start your own? It's not very hard, and getting people to join is just about spreading the word and letting everyone know that it will be a safe place to go to. I had a club at my high school a couple years back, and we always had a great turn out of people, but nobody wanted to talk ecause they were scared. So it was like 15 kids who were to scared to talk during the meetings, and the 3 people who were out chatting it up.

Sometimes the clubs arent the best idea because not much ha[[ens from it, except a bunch of kids sitting in a room and not saying anything lol. YOu have to be willing to put tim ena effore into it for people to open up and have ti be a well functioning club. I t hink thats why a lot of clubs arent created, people dont have or dont want to put time into it.

Reply:i do agree with you to start such institutions in high schools....but then laws in many states...and many dirty politicians....vehemently oppose homos....even if they themselves are...for instance vp cheney...whose daughter....

Reply:Rae, I don't know many highschools that actually have ever had homosexual clubs and I think if they did, they encountered a lot of problems, like my highschool did. A group of my friends and I started a homosexual club, but we found that drew a LOT of unwanted attention and there were more beatings than usual, the teachers did nothing and the principal was of the opinion that he had warned us against the idea, yet we went ahead anyway, so anything that happened to us, we had to be prepare to take it.



I do know that University is a lot different, there were several groups on my campus and each group was fantastic to be part of, and perhaps you will have to wait until University to join such a group because at that age, people are somewhat more mature, the study load is heavier and they don't have as much time to give others trouble.



I hope you can find something, though, and that it works. And there are sites out there that you can join that are for lesbians only, such as pinksofa.com - although last time I was a member there, there were membership fees, but I guess it's the same with most genuine on-line places.

Reply:Highschools should not have clubs based on sexual themes. This isn't what parents send their kids to school for.
Reply:Well, if your school doesn't have one, go talk to a guidance councelor or the principal and see if you can get one, whether it be one for just the LGBT people, or a Gay Straight Alliance club.
