The first plant grew in my flowerbed this spring. It is a creeper of some sort and it took over my porch railing. The frost has killed it before the flowers were able to seed out.
The second plant is one I found growing against the side of my porch. It looked like some type of grass, but it had a stalk that grew up and flowered in a ball on the top. To see the pictures look at http://photos.yahoo.com/sunset_at_surf
Mystery plants What are they?
I'm not absolutely sure on the first one, but I'm with 'Dragonmom', I think it's some sort of Cucumber, or Squash.
The second one is "Star of Bethlehem", it can be invasive. I'd watch it carefully, and if it starts getting out of hand, start spraying it with round-up or another strong herbicide.
As long as you don't allow the fruit of the other to drop, and thus drop seeds, you shouldn't be bothered by it again. The frost should kill it off completely.
Good luck-
Reply:The first one looks like wild cucumber. It will take over your yard and possibly strangle trees. I'm not for sure what the second one is.
Reply:the first is probably somkind of ivy, i'm not sure about the other.

Thank you for the pictures. The vine is some type of squash, gourd, or cucumber. Can't tell for sure. The other plant looks like Starflower. It grows from a bulb and will spread and choke out everything in your flowerbed. It does have pretty flowers on though.
Reply:"This album does not contain any photos"
Reply:The first I am not sure, the 2nd maybe wild garlic.
